Event information

This event has passed.

The marathon starts at Lake Argyle above the Ord River and follows its 55km to Kununurra, just over the NT/WA border up north. Zoom out on the attached map to see Lake Argyle, which is where the course starts. It finishes in Kununurra.

Saturday evening is a briefing and dinner. Sunday is the actual event, finishing with a celebration that evening. It is a one day event, paddling from 8.00am to 4.00pm with 3 stops, plenty of water and food provided and heaps of fun. It is not a race, but a consistent paddle in one of Australia's beautiful environments.

You would fly in to Darwin and drive or fly to Kununurra, or you could drive from here to make it an outback adventure. Go to www.ordriverpaddle.com.au for more information.

There is a limit of 14 paddlers plus a sweep. There are a limited number of companion places available on an accompanying boat. They take have refreshments along the way, watch you paddle and take photos. If there are enough paddlers for a Bidgee team, or close to it, a club registration will be requested.

Regarding preparation for it, the way we now paddle is the best for endurance, and there will be extra training sessions leading to the event.

Give it a go. Its an amazing adventure and very satisfying.
