Venice Dragon Boat Festival and Vogolonga 2018
Event information
This event has passed.
These dates are TENTATIVE and not likely to be confirmed until September. Below is a copy of an email I sent back in February and the response I received yesterday. I have replied that we definitely want to book and pay A$750 deposit to participate in the Venice International Dragon Boat Festival Regatta on 19 May 2018, Vogolonga on Sunday 20 May 2018 and the Grand Parade on the afternoon/evening of Friday 18 May 2018.
Dear Denise
I am terribly sorry that I did not respond to your email - I have been receving quite a few and only now did I see it amongst them.... I really do apologise! We are also in the middle of organising a World Championships event in September and your email arrived during a deadline date... :(
I will answer your questions below.
Kind regards
Maria

HelloBidgee Dragons from Wagga Wagga Australia is very keen to participate in the Vogalogna for 2018 in a dragon boat and regattas around that date.I realise that this is over 12 months away, and that arrangements are underway for the 2017 event. However, many of our members need to make long term plans regarding leave from work etc.Would you please help me with the following information?1. Probable date? I believe about 50 days after Easter Sunday? Yes, usually it is held on Pentecost Sunday so we anticipate that the date will be on Sudnay May 20th 2018. The Vogalonga organisation usually confirms this around September or October - however if I hear of anything earlier I will let you know.2. Other possible dragon boat regattas/events at that time. We will be holding the Venice International DB Festival the day before ie 19th May. It is a fun event open to everybody over a distance of 200 mt only. We have the opening parade of boats along the Grand Canal on the Friday 18th around 6pm. Information on last year's Festival can be found at www.venicedragonboat.com.3. Costs of participation and hiring a dragon boat? Again, you can use the Festival info bulletin for info on costs and organisation. The costs for the festival and boat hire should remain unchanged.4. The number of paddlers in each dragon boat? 22 in a standard boat and 12 for a small boat for the Festival. Just a note - if you decide on a small boat for the Vogalonga, due to its higher instability, we do not recommend a full boat.5. We would like to make a booking as soon as possible. When can we do that? Whenever you want. If you wish to save on bank transfer fees, we have a bank account in Australia to which you could pay the money.
